Olicía creates futuristic soundscapes through organic improvisation: two voices, two loop stations, limitless genres. Avant-garde soul meets delicate folk moments—always innovative, pulsating, and one of a kind.
Formed by vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Fama M’Boup and Anna-Lucia Rupp, Olicía is driven by female voices that intertwine and unfold: sharing lead vocals, layering, beatboxing, harmonizing, and growing sonic textures that exist partly in the now, partly in the future. Their instrumentation ranges from synths and looped vocal fragments to guitar and clarinet.
Genre boundaries have always been fluid for Olicía—delicate folk moments, pulsating pop, avant-garde soul, spoken word, jazz… Yet their music always carries a softly futuristic feel, shaped through their unique approach of composing with two synchronized loop stations. Defying the usual constraints (and lengths) of loop-based music, they craft direct, elegant songs—without backing tracks—that leave room for spontaneity, improvisation, and serendipity.
